so said the ho so chic - @Martine Micallef born and raised in the south of France, she absorbed all the amazing colors and artistic vibes of the French Riviera including the sun kissed skin tone. along with her husband Geoffrey she created a little empire of her own for arts & perfumes @parfumsmicallef A niche fragrance brand selling world wide for 22 years now.
I spent the last week with Martin in Tel-Aviv presenting her new artistic collaboration with the Russian artist Alex Doll and had the chance to reveal some of her secrets for happy and passionate life, her exquisite taste in fashion and her beauty rituals
Martine about her fashion choices:
I love mixing colors and materials, different styles and different fabrics, that is my way to create my own style. I can wear simple denim with an expensive top or even a short dress
I mix items from east and west, we travel a lot, promoting our brand and every way I go I like buying the traditional garment that represents the area I am in at the moment, and I wear the items I find in the "French way", sometimes I even redesign it and add my own touch to it.
I don't like wearing black. It makes me feel old and too serious, my fashion choices are just like me - creative, happy and colorful. the outfit can be very simple or very detailed but it must reflect happiness
I love waking up in the mornings and get dressed. I don't think about it to much, I never plan what to wear, this morning I received this beautiful and colorful dress from the Tel Avivian boutique pioo-pioo, and immediately I found something to wear it with. (we love your shiny shoes:))
I have an eclectic collection of clothes I have selected over the years, Luckily I'm at the same size for many years, so I don't have to get reed of anything.
Did you changed your style with time? oh yes, when I was young I was very extravagant with my outfits, now I'm more moderated, but still having a lot of fun with my wardrobe. fashion is fun for me.
Martine's tips for well being
Cleansing inside and outside. I never went to bad with my makeup on, even not after a long night. I started to look after my skin when I was young, I make sure to apply moisturizer every morning and night and I can't live without my eye cream. it is a must
Fresh food I like my food fresh and simple, I love eating and try new things but my favorite food is fresh fruits, vegetables and fishes. when I was a child, my mother use to come home from the market with fresh tomatoes and crispy brad from the boulangerie and it was delicacy, tomatoes with salt, olive oil and bread. even today I love it. I avoid sugar and sweets, I just don't like it and my body does not need it.
Authenticity I'm a simple person who appreciates a personal and direct approach. I get to meet a lot of different people, my attitude is the same with everyone. Hypocrisy and arrogance because of success or money is something I dislike.
Nature I love hiking in the open nature, I travel a lot and like to see new places, but even when I'm back home, a nice walk in the open fields of Grasse is a must for me. fresh air, sun and all the beauty around me. it's so inspiring.
Family I love my family, and spent as much time as I can with them when we are back home. my family is my joy.
Martine's advise for all the women out there if you want success make sure to do what you love and what you want. when you're doing what you want and love, success is guarantied. make sure to do it with passion. Its better to get lost in your passion then lose your passion. love and passion are my greatest motivation.
Geoffrey is my balance. I'm an artist and I do what I love, but we are doing it together, he takes care on the finance and I'm the creative and artistic soul.
Martine's dreams for the upcoming years
when it comes to life I want to do as much as I can. my biggest dream is to be an artist at 100 percent of the time, but I know it's hard because than I won't be abele to spend so much time with my family and friends. I just want everyone around me to be as happy as I am. for the upcoming year my goals are to have more artistic collaborations such as the one I did with Alex Doll, and I really want to visit Japan, I'm fascinated by the culture and beauty of this country
Martine's make up & beauty musts
I never live home without my lip-gloss and mascara, I like the natural look and don't wear a lot of make up. my favorite fragrance now is the new launch Mon Parfume Pearl, but i also like to mix fragrances nd scented oils. my first perfume was Guerlain habit rouge.
